Former Lansdale Priest Removed After 2nd Abuse Allegation
The priest, who worked all around Montco, was removed some 30 years following the date of allegations that he sexually abused a minor.
LANSDALE, PA — A Catholic priest who served throughout Chester and Montgomery counties, including Saint Stanislaus in Lansdale, was removed from service after the latest allegation that he sexually abused a minor in the early 1980s was "substantiated" by an Archdiocese investigation. He served as a full priest for nearly five years since the first allegations — originally "unsubstantiated" — were first brought forth.
There were no criminal charges filed, despite the fact that the latest allegation was described as substantiated. No further details regarding the case have been made available.
Monsignor Joseph L. Logrip, 74, was first accused of the 1980s abuse in 2011, when the Philadelphia Grand Jury report was released. He was placed on administrative leave at the time, meaning he was not officially allowed to work as a priest or represent himself that way publicly.

While Logrip was on administrative leave, the Archdiocesan Office of Investigations looked into Logrip. In 2014, they announced that Logrip was suitable for the ministry, calling that first allegation of sexual abuse unsubstantiated. He was assigned as a chaplain to Malvern's Camilla Hall, and as a weekend assistant to Saint Peter Parish in West Brandywine, where he served for nearly five years.
Fast forward to late 2018, and a fresh, separate claim of sexual abuse committed by Logrip, also in the 1980s, was brought forth. He was again placed on administrative leave in Jan. 2019, and this time both law enforcement and the Archdiocese investigated, with a different result.

Though no charges were filed, the Archdiocese determined he was unsuitable for ministry, they announced on Monday.
