Fossils Found At Lansdale Turnpike Excavation

Fossils have been uncovered at the site of Pennsylvania Turnpike extension project, according to The Reporter.

Construction crews have been building stormwater basins and extending Lansdale’s Exit 31 of the turnpike’s Northeast Extension, reports state.

Geologists from Kutztown University uneartherd fossils from 220 million years ago, dating to the end of the Triassic period, the reports state.

The Triassic period included the earliest ancestors of the dinosaurs.

Reports state that the discovery was not accidental and that geologists and construction crews worked together to find what they already believed might be there.
