The circle name was chosen to honor General Davis’ service in the Civil War. William Watts Hart Davis was born in 1820 in Southampton Township, Bucks County, PA. While completing a law course at Harvard University, on December 5, 1846 he enlisted in the 1st Massachusetts Infantry to fight in the Mexican War and was honorably discharged in 1848.
