Injured Towamencin Officer Home From Rehab
Officer Gibbas is making great progress in recuperating from his injuries after being struck by a car while on duty recently.

TOWAMENCIN, PA — Officer James Gibbas is making great progress in recuperating from his injuries after being struck by a car while on duty recently.
Gibbas, who was struck while directing traffic on Nov. 28, was just released from Moss Rehabilitation Center, where he had gone after being released from the hospital last week.
"He has returned home to recuperate from the injuries he suffered when he was struck by a car at the scene of a traffic accident. While he has a long road ahead, including some tough PT, at least he is home! Rest up Officer Gibbas, we need you back on the streets of Towamencin!" Towamencin police said in a Facebook post announcing the good news.

Police are continuing their investigation of the incident which occurred near the border of Upper Gwynedd and Towamencin townships.

At around 8:47 p.m. that night, Gibbas responded to a report of a deer being struck by a car on Valley Forge Road near Hunter Hill Road.
Gibbas parked his patrol car behind the vehicle that had struck the deer, and began to direct traffic around the accident, according to the Upper Gwynedd Police Department.
As he was directing traffic, an 89-year-old woman who was headed north on Valley Forge Road struck Gibbas, police said.
The woman remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Gibbas remained conscious and alert after being struck and was taken to Abington Hospital in the wake of the crash, authorities said.
