Lansdale Cop Who Was Stabbed Honored By National Liberty Museum

LANSDALE, PA — A Lansdale police officer who was injured in an off-duty incident where he helped apprehend a criminal will be honored by the National Liberty Museum at an upcoming event.

The Museum will recognize Officer Daniel Gallagher during their 14th annual Awards of Valor ceremony, citing "remarkable acts of heroism and for serving as role models in their communities."

Gallagher was off-duty on July 5 and happened to be in the area of a foot pursuit in Richland Township of a suspect who'd been seen brandishing a knife.

During the pursuit of the man, Gallagher was stabbed in the left shoulder, authorities said.

The suspect was arrested and is facing numerous charges.

Gallagher and a few select others will be recognized at an awards ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 19.

The awards honor active duty police officers, police detectives, K-9 units, firefighters & fire police, EMS & EMT, other emergency responders, and law enforcement personnel from the greater Philadelphia area.

The Museum will present eight awards for "Meritorious Community Service," seven awards will be presented for "Valor." That includes both individual and team honorees.

Stories of honorees will be featured in a museum exhibit and on the museum's web page.
