Lansdale Man Jailed After Dispute Over Butter

Patrick Carpenter, 20, is facing assault charges after police said he attacked his grandmother when she told him he couldn't use the butter.

A Lansdale man’s preference for a certain type of butter has landed him in jail, where he’s been since Thanksgiving eve.

Patrick Carpenter, 20, is facing assault charges after police told The Reporter he attacked his 74-year-old grandmother when she told him he couldn’t use a particular type of butter during an incident on Nov. 25.

Court documents show that Carpenter was arraigned the day before Thanksgiving then committed to Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post $25,000 bail.

Police went to the East Second Street house Carpenter shares with his grandmother on Nov. 26 after a relative alerted them the elderly woman had been injured the night before during a domestic altercation, according to The Reporter.

During the incident, Carpenter reportedly grabbed her from behind and threw her to the ground after she told him he could not use a certain kind of butter.

Carpenter is scheduled to face District Judge Harold D. Borek at a preliminary hearing on Dec. 11.
