Lansdale Police to Grow Beards for Charity Next Month
During November, Lansdale officers will be growing their facial hair as a fundraiser for The Variety Club Camp & Developmental Center.

Members of the Lansdale Borough Police Department will look a bit different next month, thanks to an effort to raise money for charity.
During November, Lansdale officers will be growing their facial hair as a fundraiser for The Variety Club Camp & Developmental Center.
The borough’s policy that police officers can’t have facial hair aside from mustaches will be waived for the month. Officers who grow their beards out will be donating money to the Variety Club Camp & Developmental Center in Worcester, which serves children with special needs.

Money will individually matched by Police Chief Robert McDyre and Sergeant Alex Kromdyk, according to an announcement from Lansdale Borough Police.
“Police Departments have traditionally been modeled after the military and as such, have adopted the military’s grooming standards which do not allow facial hair such as beards, sideburns etc. When I was presented with the idea of allowing our officers to have some fun while supporting charity, I knew it was a win/win,” said McDyre.
