Lansdale Vehicles In SEPTA Garage During Storm Were Still Ticketed

The borough says they are working to address the issue and figure out what happened, as resident were told they could park there for free.

LANSDALE, PA — Some Lansdale residents are upset after they were issued tickets for parking in the SEPTA train station garage during the Sunday blizzard, despite assurances from officials that they could park there.

The borough acknowledged in an alert to the community Tuesday that tickets were "issued sporadically" to some vehicles.

"We’re actively working with SEPTA to understand what happened, resolve the issue and clarify the process for ticket redemption," the borough said in a statement. "We appreciate your patience as we sort this out. We’ll share updates and next steps as soon as more information is available."

As Lansdale declared a snow emergency for the storm, they told residents that SEPTA would allow them to use the garage for free from Saturday, Feb. 21 through Tuesday, Feb. 24. The initial notice did not say what time on Tuesday vehicles had to be moved from the garage.

Parking has consistently been an issue this winter in several local municipalities as snow plows need clear access to snow emergency routes. Parking is typically not allowed on these roadways during a declared snow emergency, which has occurred multiple times during this turbulent season. The SEPTA garage offered residents an easy alternative to seeking street parking elsewhere.
