Lansdale Working On 'Compassionate' Solution To Stony Creek Homeless Encampment
Officials said that misinformation had circulated on social media regarding the camps. They plan to move away from "punitive enforcement."

LANSDALE, PA — Authorities and multiple nonprofits in Lansdale are working to assist members of the homeless encampment at Stony Creek Park, officials said, noting the borough is dedicated to a "transition away from punitive enforcement toward compassionate, real-world solutions."
The borough said that "rumors and inaccurate claims" are circulating on social media regarding the camp, the future of the residents there, and the role of local officials. Authorities in Upper Gwynedd Township released a similar statement regarding "rumors circulating" and cooperation between officials and nonprofits in working with the individuals in the park.
The nature of the misinformation is not yet clear, though complaints have spread in recent weeks and months. A Nov. 2025 post from the Lansdale Republican Committee complained of "homeless men carousing and using profanity while drinking a bottle of Smirnoff."

"This is unacceptable," the post ended.
"We believed (when discussions began months ago), and we know now, that we can maintain the safety of our parks while treating our unhoused neighbors with dignity," the borough said over the weekend.

A new homeless shelter, Todi's Place of Hope, just opened in Lansdale in February on 1107 E. Main Street. It features four single-occupancy and eight double-occupancy rooms, a warming kitchen, recreation spaces, laundry facilities, offices for case management, and around the clock security.
"Several private and nonprofit community providers are actively working together with the residents of the Stony Creek encampment," the borough said. "Our collaborative efforts are focused on ensuring the well-being and safety of all individuals involved."
When Todi's opened, officials expressed hope at its opening that it would reduce the Lansdale homeless population by up to 75 percent.
