New Homeless Shelter Opens In Lansdale
Officials hope the shelter, partly funded by a generous $1 million donation, will reduce Lansdale's homeless population by 75 percent.

LANSDALE, PA — A new 20-bed homeless shelter has officially opened in Lansdale which officials hope will reduce the borough's homeless population by up to 75 percent.
The new facility, Todi’s Place of Hope, is located on 1107 E. Main Street. It's funded in part by a massive $1 million donation from Ambler resident Nand Todi, the owner of Penn Manufacturing Industries.
"Homelessness is a problem that is very close to our hearts, and it saddens me to see this problem in this country, which is the most advanced and richest country in the world," Todi said. "I hope this shelter will provide not just a temporary refuge, but an opportunity for individuals to receive proper training, counseling, and guidance so that they are able to live a dignified life."

The project has been underway since Dec. 2024, and received the donation in Dec. 2025. It is owned by the county but will be operated year round by Resources for Human Development, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit, that will provide a variety of behavioral health services and assistance in obtaining permanent housing.
“When this shelter opens, it’s going to drastically cut the number of people living on the streets in Lansdale,” Montgomery County Commissioner Tom DiBello said. “Life happens and sometimes people get down on their luck."

It's the latest in a string of shelters that the county has opened in the past two years, including two in Lansdale and others in Norristown and Pottstown.
Todi's gift is one of the largest ever made to the county's homelessness initiatives.
The 1107 E. Main Street site is a former office building which has been renovated. The facility will feature four single-occupancy and eight double-occupancy rooms, a warming kitchen, recreation spaces, laundry facilities, offices for case management, and around the clock security.
Mosts guests will stay roughly 60 to 90 days, officials said, depending on individual needs.
