LANSDALE, PA -- Inglewood Elementary School is hosting their annual assembly in support of Autism Awareness on Friday, May 13 at 2:30 p.m. in the gym. During the program, students and staff will be present a check for over $2,400 to the Greater Philadelphia Area Chapter of the Autism Society of America, the North Penn School District announced Tuesday.

This assembly will reach the entire student body and faculty members, as it celebrates the school’s various efforts put forth during the month of April, which symbolizes Autism Awareness month.

The movement was coordinated by Inglewood Elementary School’s Autism Awareness Committee, a voluntary group of dedicated staff members who have created a wide range of activities and events to support a cause that’s near and dear to their hearts. Members of the group include Carolyn Collins, Margaret Deddy, Beth Delisi, Christine Kelly, Diane Kozeniewski and Traci Thompson

The committee organized efforts such as promoting students and faculty to wear blue in support of the “Light it Up Blue” crusade led by Autism Speaks on April 6th, to shine a light on Autism. They also arranged for a fact about Autism to be read on the announcements every morning during the month of April.

This helped students when participating in an autism awareness “Jeopardy” game which tested their knowledge of autism-based facts during the autism assembly.

As a school, Inglewood Elementary raised over $2,400.

The winning class will receive an Ice Cream Party and autism awareness bracelets, and will present the check to the Autism Society of America at the assembly on Friday, May 13th.
