Police Warn Of 'Distraction Robberies' In Montgomery County
Lower Salford Police Department is warning the public of scammers who often target elderly homeowners.

A Lower Salford resident had money stolen from their home after being distracted by people posing as tree trimmers, according to police.
Police say this distraction burglary happened in about 20 minutes when two unknown males claiming to be checking the property boundary lines in order to do some tree trimming work approached the home and met with the victim.
According to police, the men left the area in a white Ford pick up truck and upon reentering the home, the victim saw someone had forcibly entered the home and discovered money was missing from the bedroom.

"Criminals conducting these distraction type burglaries typically target older style homes that are occupied by elderly residents," the department said in its Facebook post. "The police department would like to remind everyone to be extremely cautious when it comes to dealing with any uninvited contractors who come to your home."
Resident who are confronted by uninvited contractors are encouraged to contact the police department immediately at (215) 256-9595). All uninvited contractors and people attempting to do business by going door-to-door are required to be in possession of a soliciting permit:
