Montco Community College Hosts Writer's Coffeehouse Featuring Local Writer

The event is free and open to the public and will feature an open mic night for prose and poetry writers afterwards.

Montgomery County Community College’s Writers’ Club will be hosting a Coffeehouse featuring author Craig H. Bennett of Bechtelsville, Pa., on Wednesday, Nov. 2, starting at 7 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble bookstore, located across from Parkhouse Hall, on the Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, the school announced in a press release.

The coffeehouse is free and open to the community. Refreshments will be served.

Bennett, a former English teacher in the Boyertown Area School District and retired associate professor of English at the Valley Forge Military College, will be discussing his book, “Nights on the Mountain: A Spiritual Journey.”

The book is about a retired academic who decides to go backpacking in Washington’s North Cascades. During his journey, he mentally meanders through reflections of society, religion and American consumerism and reconsiders his own values. The expedition prompts readers to challenge assumptions and look at the world from a different perspective, the school said.

An open mic session will follow the speaker, and writers and poets are invited to share their work with the audience.
