Montgomery Township to Celebrate 300 Years With 'Biggest Event Yet'

The Community Day Celebration, to mark the township's tri-centennial, will feature fireworks, live music and more.

Montgomery Township is celebrating its 300th anniversary this year and there will be a party to celebrate.

A Community Day Celebration in honor of the township’s tri-centennial will be held Sept. 20 from noon to 9 p.m. at William F. Maule Park at Windlestrae, 1147 Kenas Road, North Wales.

The rain date is Sept. 27.

The celebration will take the place of the township’s annual Autumn Festival.

“Community Day will be the Township’s biggest event yet with an extensive celebration and some exciting new additions including a children’s scavenger hunt, musical entertainment throughout the day, game booths and a fireworks show at night,” the township said in an announcement.

Here is the schedule of events:

12 p.m. - Opening Ceremonies

12 p.m. - 6:00 pm – Vendors and Amusements

12:45 p.m. –Almost Fab

2 p.m. - Red Alert Band

3 p.m. - IV Stone

5:15 p.m. - Elvis by Dean Garofolo

7 p.m. - Mango Men

8:45 p.m. – Fireworks

There will also be attractions normally found at the Autumn Festival, including pony rides, a petting zoo, scarecrow making, pumpkin decorating and Police K-9 demonstrations. Some activities will have fees.

“While admission, parking, and many of the activities are free, with the purchase of a wristband, children can have access to scarecrow making, pumpkin decorating, and many age appropriate inflatables,” the township said in the announcement.

Wristbands are $8 each and can be purchased at the Recreation Office in the Township Building before Community Day. The Recreation Office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The price of wristbands will go up to $10 each at Windlestrae Park on the day of the event.
