Montgomeryville Rallies Around Scholarship Candidate

A Facebook "likes" competition will decide the winner of $10,000.

Montgomeryville native Matthew Newman has been chosen as one of three national finalists for a $10,000 scholarship to attend the school of his dreams, Washington, DC’s American University.

The Goddard School is governing the prize, the Anthony A. Martino Scholarship, by running a voting competition on its Facebook page. The finalist with the most votes at the end of this week, on Friday, May 15th, will win the scholarship.

Newman says that he plans to major in Finance and minor in Law and Society while at American.

“The deep friendships that I made as an infant and toddler with other Goddard kids have continued to grow and I am still close with many of these friends today,” Newman says. “Many of the families that mine is closest with all exist because of connections that were made at The Goddard School.”

The Anthony A. Martino Scholarship is open to any junior or senior in high school that graduated from a Goddard School. The award is named for the founder of the franchise, which now has 400 locations around the country.
