North Penn Grad, Noted Community Volunteer, Passes At 72

"She was a Caregiver who did everything for everybody else while taking care of everyone. "

LANSDALE, PA — Betty Jean Fonder, 72, a former Hatfield native for 35 years, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Abington Hospice at Warminster in Warminster, PA. Born on July 13, 1944 in Lansdale, PA she was the daughter of the late Samuel F. and Elizabeth K. (nee Bossert) Erb, and she had been married to George L. Fonder from 1963 to 2000.

Betty was a 1962 graduate of North Penn High School, and also a member of the Central Schwenkfelder Church, Worcester. In addition to being a full-time Homemaker for many years Betty had also worked previously at Rosenberger’s Dairy Wagon, Lactona, Shellys, Accupac, and Trotters Pretzels. She was also a Crossing Guard for the Hatfield Police Department, and her hobbies were decorating for Christmas, Easter, and Halloween, collecting penguins, and baking for her family and friends. She was a Caregiver who did everything for everybody else while taking care of everyone. Her family was her world, and she really loved all of them very much.

She is survived by her children, George Ronald Fonder (Debra), Ricky Alan Fonder (Suzanne), and Charles David Fonder (Gina Rochford), her grandchildren, Brittni Fonder, Kelsey Fonder, and Keegan Fonder, her great-grandson, Jaxson, her brother, S. Ronald Erb (Joyce), and her nephews, Christopher Erb (Niki) and their daughter, Taylor, son, Colin, and Andrew Erb.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday morning, August 4, 2016, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Avenue, Lansdale, PA 19446 where her Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 480 Norristown Road, Suite 150, Blue Bell, PA 19422 which would be deeply appreciated by her family.
