North Penn Marching Knights Win National Championship

The local musicians took top honors at the USBands National Championships, Group V Open division, on Nov. 15 at MetLife Stadium.

The North Penn Marching Knights won first place at a national competition last weekend.

The local musicians took top honors at the USBands National Championships, Group V Open division, on Nov. 15 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The North Penn Marching Knights scored 97.950 out of a 100-point scale.

The competition included 60 high school bands from 10 states, including Connecticut, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and West Virginia.

The bands competed in six divisions based on size.

The 113 Marching Knights were led by Director Mike Britcher, senior drum major Jared Boyden and junior drum major Stephen Popp.
