There are still mail-in ballots to be counted, but Republicans seem poised to take at least two seats on the North Penn School Board in one of the tightest local elections in recent memory.

If the current results hold, Jonathan Kassa and Alfred Roesch would be voted out, and Michael Kennedy and Jessica Bradica would be voted in.

LANSDALE, PA — Polls have closed and results are coming in the hotly contested North Penn School Board race.

There are four seats available, with eight candidates battling to fill the four year terms. The race features Democrats, Tina Stoll, Christian Fusco, Jonathan Kassa, and Alfred Roesch against Republicans Michael Kennedy, Harry Snyder, Frederick Froehlich, and Jessica Bradica.

The Democrats are part of an incumbent group which owns every seat on the existing board, which has supported the controversial mask mandates in schools.

The challenging Republicans, running as part of the North Penn Views bloc, are supported by the Back to School PA PAC, which aims to prevent schools from being closed. The group donated $10,000 to the challengers over the summer.

"PAC Chair Becker and Treasurer Wilson want to balance out the current board that kept schools closed for much of the last school year," Back to School PAC spokesperson Clarice Schillinger said.

Other points of contention between the groups include the funding that was given to the renovations of Crawford Stadium, and the other infrastructure improvements which challengers say should have been prioritized.

Two polling places in Montgomery County, Norristown's Gotwals Elementary School and Cole Manor School, will not close until 9 p.m. after their voting equipment arrived late on Tuesday morning, leading to a delay in opening.
