North Wales-Based Rep. Todd Stephens Is Running For Attorney General

Legislator seeks to restore "well-regarded reputation and good work of our attorney general's office."

State Rep. Todd Stephens, a Republican from Montgomery County, is running for state attorney general, he announced Wednesday.

In a campaign video, Stephens touted his experience as a prosecutor.

“We’re all disappointed that the well-regarded reputation and good work of our attorney general’s office has been overshadowed by story after story about an attorney general who seems more interested in settling political scores than protecting the people of Pennsylvania,” Rep. Stephens said in the video.

According to PoliticsPA, Stephens will be running against State Sen. John Raffery, another Republican legislator from Montgomery County, in a potential Republican primary.

For the Democrats, incumbent Kathleen Kane is planning to run despite her recent indictment, with Delaware County’s Jack Stollsteimer also in the race.

Josh Shapiro, also of Montgomery County, has been rumored for the race as well.

Stephens is a graduate of Hatboro-Horsham High School, and his offices are in North Wales.
