People With Disabilities Have Long Waits For Services: Montco Rep

More than 13,000 Pennsylvanians with disabilities are currently on a waitlist to receive essential support services, officials said.

TOWAMENCIN, PA — An upcoming public hearing in Towamencin will address lengthy wait times experienced with local individuals with disabilities attempting to gain access to basic support services provided by the state.

The hearing will take place on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. at the Towamencin Township Building.

It's being organized by State Rep. Liz Hanbridge (D-Montgomery) who hopes to find ways to reduce the current waitlist for Home- and Community-Based Services.

More than 13,000 Pennsylvanians with disabilities are currently waiting to receive essential services, according to Hanbridge's office.

State legislators and organizers from across the state will take place in the event, including Policy Committee Chairman State Rep. Mike Sturla (D-Lancaster).
