Road Shut Down In Hatfield, Utility Pole Down During Snowstorm
Police in the Hatfield and Lansdale areas urged residents to stay off the roads as conditions deteriorate.

HATFIELD, PA — Police around the Hatfield and Lansdale area have issued warnings to local residents as the snowstorm continues to batter the region Tuesday morning, and accidents shut down key roadways.
Derstine Road is now closed between Clemens Road and Kimberly Way after an accident, Hatfield Police said. The accident damaged the utility pole and is blocking the roadway.
Officials urged residents to avoid the area and not to drive around barriers.

They also urged the public to stay off the roads if at all possible.

"With the heavy snow road conditions right now are hazardous," Lansdale Police said. "If you don't have to go out, please stay home. Thank you!!"
Local work crews and PennDOT snow plows are working to clear roadways, but most still remain slippery and unsafe.
Hatfield Township and Hatfield Borough are both under a snow emergency for the duration of the storm. During a snow emergency:
- Remove your vehicle from the road during a snow emergency
- Your vehicle may be towed if it is parked in the street
- Keep non-essential vehicles off the roadways
- Non-essential vehicles include ATVs and snowmobiles
- Remove trash and recycling receptacles, basketball nets, and all other items from the roadway to avoid damage
Montgomery County was experiencing more than 130 accidents and emergency calls Tuesday morning, officials said.
