Senior Citizens To Get Free Rides On SEPTA's Regional Rail With Key Pass
Good news for senior citizens who ride the Regional Rail: that $1 fee will vanish once the Key Pass is implemented.

Great news for senior citizens who ride SEPTA's network of Regional Rail lines: when the new Key card is implemented as a form of payment, the $1 fee will be dropped. Senior citizens over the age of 65 currently pay the $1 fee.
The transition to SEPTA Key will begin on June 1, and the transition is expected to be completed by this fall.
With valid identification, seniors can already ride free on other forms of SEPTA transportation.

The Key can be loaded with money and used to pay for rides for any SEPTA mode of transportation, including buses, trolleys, subways, and the Regional Rail. Weekly passes, monthly passes, and daily passes can all still be purchased, they're just located in one convenient pass.
There will be loading and reloading stations for Key Pass holders located throughout SEPTA stations.

In the future, SEPTA officials said that they expect riders to be able to make "non-transit" purchases with the card.
An early adopters program is currently underway for SEPTA Transit customers who want to begin using the Key before the June 1 roll-out date. Learn more about SEPTA's Key program here.
