Upper Gwynedd Man Dies From Coronavirus

UPPER GWYNEDD, PA — Five more Montgomery County residents have died from coronavirus, including an Upper Gwynedd man, officials announced on Tuesday, bringing the county total to 32.

The victims included a 94-year-old man from Upper Gwynedd, an 80-year-old woman from Norristown, a 78-year-old woman from Springfield, a 75-year-old man Upper Merion, and an 86-year-old man from Whitemarsh.

Three of the victims died in a hospital and two died while at home.

The Upper Gwynedd man is the township's third resident to lose their life to coronavirus.

In addition, the county saw 160 new cases Tuesday, bringing the total up to 1,294.

Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh praised residents for staying home whenever possible, and said that these self-quarantine measures were working in helping to flatten the curve. As of Tuesday, all Montgomery County hospitals still have open beds.

"We are heading into what we hope is the peak of this," Arkoosh said. "So please keep at it."

The county's testing site at Temple University-Ambler will shut down on Friday, as federal funding is being withdrawn. Officials believe that more than 5,000 residents from around the region will have been tested by the time site closes.
