VP Of Montco Baseball-Softball Nonprofit Pleads Guilty In $43K Theft: Officials
Officials said the man in charge of the nonprofit's finances used the organization's money for personal purchases.

MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, PA — The vice president of a Montgomery County baseball and softball organization who police said stole more than $43,000 from the group and used it for personal purchases pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas last week.
Christopher Pekula, 50, of North Wales, was originally arrested in Feb. 2025 for crimes which the district attorney's office said occurred from Oct. 2018 to Oct. 2023.
During that period, Pekula was in charge of Montgomery Township Baseball and Softball Association's (MTBSA) finances, managing various bank records and expenditures.

When he was arrested, Pekula was charged with a slew of counts, including theft by unlawful taking. His guilty plea on March 26 was just to the lesser count of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds.
The MBTSA received a federal EIDL COVID-19 relief loan of $25,900 in June 2020, and Pekula made 17 cash withdrawals, 15 of which were illegitimate and unrelated to the organization's business, the DA said.

Pekula also reimbursed himself extra money beyond the legitimate expenses accrued during organization events and while making purchases for MBTSA, officials said.
Some of the purchases made with the organization's credit card were for personal Amazon purchases, according to officials.
Montgomery County Judge Steven T. O'Neill will sentence Pekula in the coming months following additional court proceedings.
