Breaking: A 20-year-old woman was struck and killed by a SEPTA train on the Lansdale-Doylestown line Tuesday night.

COLMAR, PA — A 20-year-old woman was struck and killed by a SEPTA train on the Lansdale-Doylestown line Tuesday night.

The woman, who has not been identified by authorities, was walking on the railroad tracks when she was struck, according to the Hatfield Township Police Department.

The incident occurred on the tracks that run along the 2100 block of North Broad Street.

The SEPTA train was traveling eastbound between the Fortuna and Colmar stations when it struck the woman, police said.

The engineer immediately stopped the train, authorities said.

Further circumstances of the incident remain unclear. An investigation into the incident is underway.

Hatfield police, the Volunteer Medical Service Corps, Colmar Fire Department, and SEPTA responded to the scene.
