2nd Snapchat Threat This Month Reported At Pennsbury Schools

Pennsbury school officials responded Monday to a social media threat that the students said was a joke about the Super Bowl.

FALLSINGTON, PA —It was a Super Bowl joke, the students said.

The second Social Media threat this month in the Pennsbury School District prompted an email to the Pennsbury School District community from Schools Superintendent Thomas A. Smith and High School Campus Principal Reggie Meadows on Monday.

Smith said the district was notified of another Snapchat post made by students and immediately contacted the Falls Township Police Department.

The students were interviewed and indicated that the posting that said “bring the shotgun” was “a joke” related to the Super Bowl Sunday night, school officials said.

Police confirmed that the students had no plan or access to weapons of any kind.

Regardless of intent, the students will be held accountable, school officials said.

Again, valuable police and school resources were dedicated to investigating “a joke” rather than providing needed support to our school and community, Smith said.

School officials ask parents to have conversations with children and helping them understand the appropriate use of their cell phones and the power of what they say online.

"We commend the individual reporting this concern and want to assure you that we take every threat seriously and they are fully investigated," school officials said.

The school district has a social media presentation planned for students at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

On Feb. 1, the Falls Township Police Department established a police presence at Pennsbury High School following a social media threat sent to students.

Smith said a Snapchat post told students “not to come to school” that day.
