New Bristol Township Elementary Schools to Host Simultaneous “Crossing the Threshold” Events Beginning at 5 p.m.
LEVITTOWN—Bristol Township School District elementary school students are entering a new phase in education. When classes begin on Sept. 6, the students will benefit for a 21st century learning environment in the District’s three state-of-the-art newly-completed schools. Brookwood Elementary, Mill Creek Elementary and Keystone Elementary will merge students from the District’s nine former elementary schools.

To celebrate this milestone, simultaneous ribbon-cutting ceremonies and self-guided community tours will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016. Families, students and members of the public are invited to “Crossing the Threshold.”
After arriving at school the morning of Sept. 6, students will reflect on and write about their impressions of the new facilities. Their comments will be posted in the schools’ lobbies for visitors to read following the ribbon-cuttings.

Previewing the Future of District Education
The new elementary schools contain infrastructure that supports 21st century technology, as well as other features that will improve the classroom experience and advance learning and skill acquisition. The facilities comply with Americans with Disabilities Act standards and boast environmentally sustainable design, improved building systems and integrated security systems.
Designed by Schrader Group Architecture LLC, each school consists of two wings connected by a common gym and cafeteria. One wing serves kindergarten through second grade. The second wing serves students grades three through six.
“The District is looking forward to hosting the ribbon-cutting ceremonies and self-guided school tours. I know that the community will enjoy seeing the new learning environments and the enhanced educational opportunities offered in these settings,” said Superintendent Melanie Gehrens, Ed.D.
Marking the Occasion
Ceremonial ribbons will be cut at each school at 5 p.m. Administrators, Board members and local dignitaries will attend. Afterwards, visitors can view the reflections posted by students and tour the buildings.
Suggested Schedule for Sept. 6:
Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 2 (5- 6 p.m.)
Grades 3 and 4 (6-7 p.m.)
Grades 5 and 6 (7- 8 p.m.)
Parents with children in multiple grades and members of the public are invited to visit the schools at their convenience.
School Locations are as Follows:
Mill Creek Elementary School, 6501 Mill Creek Road, Levittown
Brookwood Elementary School, 2200 Haines Road, Levittown
Keystone Elementary School, 1800 Keystone Street, Croydon
The event is open to all.

The schools will also be opened on Sept. 7 from 5-7 p.m. and visitors can tour at their convenience.
