CSI: Cub Scout Investigations Is a Hit at Core Creek Park

Cub Scouts in Washington Crossing Council enjoyed Cub Scout Investigations Day Camp at Core Creek Park in Middletown Township.

CSI isn’t just a hit on television; Cub Scouts in Washington Crossing Council enjoyed their own version- Cub Scout Investigations at Core Creek Park last week. The camp offered exciting stations including archery, arts & crafts, field sports, nature, scout skills, fishing, cooking, sling shots and other activities around this year’s CSI theme.

Shaun Blaney, a Webelos Scout from Pack 46 in Levittown, enjoyed the archery, slingshots and fishing activities and felt they were the “best part of camp”. Tyler Rugarber, a First Class Scout from Troop 10 in Yardley, who was volunteering as Den Chief, agreed.

Now in its sixth year at the park in Middletown Township, the week-long camp has grown from about 50 cub scouts to over 120 participants broken into nine dens led by 30 parent volunteers. Volunteer Bethanne Olczak of Bristol, has been with the camp since it started at Core Creek Park and has designed the programming for the event for the last three years. Her son has crossed over to Boy Scouts, but she’s still involved with making the camp a success.”

“I stayed with the Cub Scout program because I believe in and value the program. And none of this” said Olczak gesturing at a group of boys learning fingerprinting, “can be done without volunteers.”
