Daytime Lane Closures Next Week On Rt. 1 In Bucks County

Lane closures are planned on Rt. 1 southbound next week between the Rt. 32 and Rt 13 interchanges. Give yourself extra time when traveling.

Lane closures are planned on Rt. 1 southbound next week between the Rt. 32 and Rt 13 interchanges. The closures will be in place Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and are needed for the placement of a new concrete median barrier.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work zone because slowdowns will occur during construction, PennDOT said.

The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.

When complete, the project will improve the road by providing northbound motorists two through lanes while maintaining an exit to Rt. 32, thereby removing the “exit only” lane that currently exists for northbound drivers at this interchange.

In addition, a concrete barrier will be placed between Rt. 1 north and the on-ramp from Rt. 13 to eliminate the substandard weave condition that currently exists when Rt. 13 drivers enter Rt. 1 and weave through traffic to reach the Route 32 exit ramp.

James D. Morrissey, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the $2.3 million project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.

Construction is expected to be completed this summer, PennDOT said.
