LANGHORNE, PA — A festive holiday evening in honor of the man who wrote "A Christmas Carol" is set for Friday in Langhorne.
Charles Dickens Night is set for 6-9 p.m. on Friday, on South Bellevue Avenue. The free, outdoor event for the whole family will feature live music, bonfires and food, as well as a 7:30 p.m. tree lighting by Santa himself.
This year's event, sponsored by the Langhorne Borough Business Association, will be the 11th annual celebration of the season and of Dickens, who wrote "A Christmas Carol" in 1843.

The Christmas-themed event will be held at and around the Joseph Richardson House, which had already been a homestead for nearly a century when Dickens penned his ode to the season, and second chances.
Now doubling as the Langhorne Community Memorial Building, the house was built in 1738, and is one of the oldest existing structures in Bucks County. It was home to the Richardson family from its construction until 1919, when it became a memorial to those who served in World War I.
