Falls Township to Host Building Tours, Meet and Greet

Falls is offering tours of the municipal building along with community events on May 16.

The community is invited to take a tour of the existing Falls Township municipal building in conjunction with free family events offered on May 16 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Residents can meet and speak to Falls Township police officers and Falls Township Supervisors during the event, which features paper shredding, a police K-9 demonstration, two Public Works trucks on display, a dump truck with plow and the township’s recent addition: the street sweeper. Residents will be able to shred up to six bags/boxes of documents free of charge.

The parks and recreation department will be on hand to provide general activities information, including signups for Pinewood Pool and summer camp. The code enforcement office will be able to answer any questions residents have and offer general information. Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito will display the smoke house.

In addition to the community meet and greet and family-friendly fun, residents will have the opportunity to take part in a township-led tour of the existing municipal building. Falls Township staff now work in a cramped, communal area with little to no privacy, limited meeting space and in a building that was never designed to serve as a municipal complex.

The Falls Township Board of Supervisors is continuing to work with architects on plans for a new, approximately 30 percent larger municipal complex to adequately house governmental operations, as well as the police department, code enforcement, public works, parks and recreation and much-needed meeting space.

“We want to build a municipal complex worthy of the township,” Supervisors Chairman Bob Harvie said.

The new township municipal complex, which does not have a beginning construction and completion date, would be situated on the opposite side of the parking lot in the field across from the current township building on Lincoln Highway.

The municipal building project would be funded solely through Waste Management tipping fees and would not cost taxpayers a penny.
