Falls Township Paves Parking Lots for Veterans, Firefighters

The Falls Township Board of Supervisors provided funds to repave the American Legion Post 834 and Falls Township Fire Co. No. 1 parking lots

Under the direction of the Falls Township Board of Supervisors, the township’s public works department took time recently to do mill and overlay work for those who have worked hard protecting our local community.

The Supervisors budgeted $20,000 in its 2015 spending plan to cover the cost of paving the American Legion Post 834 and Falls Township Fire Co. No. 1 parking lots. The week-long “good will” project began in the second week of August and wrapped up the following week, according to Township Manager Peter Gray.

Since the work was completed in-house, the only expenses were for materials and renting of equipment. The American Legion had requested that Falls Township repave the lot and the township was happy to oblige. Since the fire department is situated next door to the American Legion, helping out that volunteer organization just made sense.

“We pride ourselves on doing whatever we can to help our veterans and volunteer firefighters,” Supervisors Chairman Bob Harvie said. “This is a small token of gratitude for all of the sacrifices these folks have made for all of us.”
