Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn said that she would seek the death penalty against Gordon due to the multiple first-degree murder charges, authorities said.

Authorities said that Gordon forcibly broke into one home and killed his 52-year-old stepmother, Karen Gordon, and 13-year-old sister, Kera Gordon, before going to another home and killing Taylor Daniel, the mother of his two children.

He then held New Jersey police in a standoff in which he barricaded himself in a Trenton, N.J., home for several hours.

Gordon faces charges of first-degree carjacking, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of an assault firearm, and four other offenses by New Jersey officials.

The new charges state that on May 23, Gordon, who is housed in the jail's mental health unit, was observed by an officer allegedly sharpening a spoon and attempting to pop the lock on his cell door, according to a criminal complaint.

Gordon initially complied with the officers, but when they attempted a body pat down he tried to pull away, the affidavit said. An emergency code was called and responding officers took Gordon to the ground where he continued to resist until his legs were shackled, the complaint states.

Three hours later, an officer assigned to move Gordon back to his cell noticed that he had manipulated his cuffed hands from behind his back to the front of his body, the affidavit said. When Gordon was told that his hands were going to be cuffed behind his back, he allegedly attacked nearby officers, the complaint states.

A second prison incident on May 29 stated that corrections officers were conducting cell searches for maximum custody inmates in the mental health unit, the complaint said.

Gordon told the officer to “leave him alone,” and refused multiple orders to come to the cell door to be handcuffed. The complaint said officers applied "multiple applications" of pepper spray on Gordon before he began fighting with the officers.

During the struggle, two officers were injured, including one who had a fractured finger and a bite wound, the complaint stated.
