Handgun Not Brought To Bristol Twp. School By Boy: Officials

Bristol Twp. school officials and police found no evidence that an 11-year-old boy had a handgun in school on Tuesday.

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA —An 11-year-old boy who fired a bullet into his Levittown home did not bring the gun to school with him that day, police and school officials said.

Police said the boy fired a handgun into his home while walking home from Franklin Middle School on Tuesday afternoon.

School officials said administrators conducted "a thorough review and investigation" of the incident in collaboration with the Bristol Township Police Department.

"This appears to be an isolated incident that did not involve any kind of threat or target," school officials said in a statement. "There was never any report of a threat involving this student, nor was it ever reported by any individual during the school day that this student was in possession of a firearm."

Bristol Township Police responded to a home in the 100 block of Goldenridge Drive in Levittown at 4:08 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a bullet hole through an exterior wall into a bedroom.

The school administration conducted several student interviews and reviewed security video throughout the day and found no evidence that the firearm was ever in Franklin Middle School.

"Please keep in mind that we are not dismissing or discounting this concerning possibility, however, the administration could find no conclusive evidence to support this premise," school officials said.

"As stated, given the significance of this action, the student involved has been immediately removed from school and the disciplinary process for long-term suspension/expulsion will be initiated," the statement read.
