NHL Most Valuable Teacher Nominees Include Pennsbury Educator

FALLSINGTON, PA —A Pennsbury School District teacher is among 20 in the nation vying for a Most Valuable Teacher award.
Sandra Metzger, a 7th grade science teacher at Charles Boehm Middle School, has been selected by the NHL, NHLPA, for the Most Valuable Teacher Program for January presented by SAP.
The teacher with the most votes will win an NHL jersey and their district will receive $10,000 toward environmental sustainability resources.

She received congratulations from state Sen. Steve Santarsiero about the honor.
Voting takes place until the end of January. You can vote daily at Visit NHL.com/MVT.

"Vote once a day, every day, to help Sandra win," Santarsiero said in a Facebook post.
Pennsbury also had a teacher nominated as a finalist for Pennsylvania's 2023 Teacher of the Year Program.
Afton Elementary School SPARK teacher Kristin Slota was among 12 teachers from across the state recently honored at the Pennsylvania Department of Education/Standards Aligned System (PDE/SSA) annual conference in Hershey on Dec. 5.
Slota has been with the Pennsbury School District for 24 years.
