NJ Man Charged In Crash With Morrisville Police Officer
A vehicle driven by Juan Martinez of Trenton, N.J., struck the officer's cruiser on Route 1 Monday night in Falls Township.
FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA —A Trenton, N.J., man has been charged in the crash that injured a Morrisville police officer on Route 1 Monday night, police said.
Juan Martinez, 41, of Trenton, N.J., faces numerous citations after he struck the cruiser operated by Morrisville Borough Police Cpl. William Smith, who was assisting Falls Township Police with a disabled vehicle on southbound Route 1 in the area of Route 32 at 8:40 p.m. Monday.
Smith's police cruiser was struck from behind and the officer suffered head and neck injuries. He was transported to Capital Health for evaluation and treatment. Smith told police he was not admitted to the hospital.

The Falls Township Police Department said impairment was not a cause of the accident.
Police determined that Martinez had an active arrest warrant from the Bucks County Sheriff's Department, for which he was taken into custody.

Martinez was cited for the following violations:
- Driving Under Suspension DUI-Related
- Drivers Required to Be Licensed
- Duty of Driver in an Emergency Response Area
- Careless Driving
- Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed
- Unregistered Vehicle
- Financial Responsibility
