The incident began about 2:30 a.m. in Toms River, when troopers saw a Ford pickup truck driving northbound in the southbound lanes near milepost 85 Toms River, Spies said. They attempted to pull the truck over but the driver, later identified as Errico, sped away and turned around, getting off the Parkway at exit 81, she said.

Errico then led the officers through several towns but Spies said there were no specifics about his route; he eventually got back on the Parkway and sped north, police said.
