Polluted Stream Under Investigation In Levittown
Penndel Police said the Mill Creek that runs through the borough and Middletown Township was polluted on Sunday.
PENNDEL, PA —The Penndel Police Department and other agencies are investigating Sunday's polluting of a small stream that runs through the borough and parts of Middletown Township.
Police said there was an unintentional release of motor oil into Mill Creek.
The incident is being investigated by police, the Penndel Borough Fire Marshal, Penndel Fire Company, Middletown Fire Company, Bucks County Hazmat Team, and by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

Upon identification of the source, the property owner was alerted, and the source of the oil was contained to the property by the fire company and hazmat unit.
The property owner is working with the DEP to contract with a DEP-approved contractor to address the cleanup of the stream and the property.

Hazardous material containment methods are in place on the property and in the creek to contain the spilled oil.
The containment methods will be maintained and changed periodically by the contracted company until the surface water is cleaned thoroughly. The cleanup will be monitored through the cleanup process by the DEP.
Until the sheen and odor are completely gone and the cleanup has been completed per DEP regulation, officials recommend the following common-sense actions to protect your families and properties:
- Do not allow children to play in the stream.
- Do not encourage pets to drink from or enter the stream.
- Do not use stream water for drinking or irrigation.
