Power Outage Closes Levittown Elementary School

The announcement came as the region was being hit with wind gusts up to 55 m.p.h. on Monday.

LEVITTOWN, PA — An elementary school in Levittown was closed Monday due to a power outage, as heavy winds battered the Philadelphia region.

Pearl S. Buck Elementary School, at 143 Top Rd. in Levittown, was closed for staff and students due to an "extended power failure," the Neshaminy School District announced early Monday.

All before and after-school activities also were canceled. Employees who work on multiple campuses were instructed to report elsewhere.

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch which began at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 and lasts until 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25. Winds of 20 to 30 mph were expected, with gusts of up to 55 mph, the NWS said.

Residents were warned that the strong winds could blow down trees, limbs and power lines.
