Route 1 Bridge Construction Planned For Saturday

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —The work is moving to the weekend.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will perform bridge construction on Route 1 and Old Lincoln Highway at the Route 1 overpass in Middletown Township under a project to improve Route 1 in Bucks County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

• Saturday, Sept. 30, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., southbound U.S. 1 will be reduced to one lane between Route 413 and the Neshaminy Exit for beam setting on the new southbound Route 1 overpass at the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Exit.
• Saturday, Sept. 30, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., periodic stoppages of up to 15 minutes will take place on southbound Lincoln Highway for beam setting on the new southbound U.S.1 overpass.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent and subject to change.

PennDOT is reconstructing and widening U.S. 1, improving the interchanges, and constructing new bridges from the Turnpike Interchange in Bensalem Township to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 in Middletown Township under the $113.5 million Section RC2 contract.
