MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA —Motorists should expect periodic stoppages of up to 15 minutes this week as PennDOT performs bridge construction on Old Lincoln Highway.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that bridge construction is scheduled on Old Lincoln Highway at the U.S. 1 overpass under a project to reconstruct, widen and improve U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships.

  • Monday, Aug. 21, through Friday, Aug. 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., periodic stoppages of up to 15 minutes will take place on southbound Lincoln Highway for beam setting on the new southbound U.S.1 overpass.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.

PennDOT is reconstructing and widening U.S. 1, improving the interchanges, and constructing new bridges from the Turnpike Interchange in Bensalem Township to north of Penndel/Business U.S. 1 in Middletown Township under the $113.5 million Section RC2 contract.
