LANGHORNE, PA —With a new security director at the helm, the Neshaminy School District has also hired a firm to review school security and safety.

The Neshaminy School Board —at its Oct. 10 meeting —approved a contract to hire the Cardinal Point Security Group of Jenkintown to provide a safety and security assessment report of each school building, the district office, and the transportation and facilities departments.

School officials said the assessment begins in November.

"The purpose of the assessment is to provide a 'comprehensive review' of each if the current facility's physical security measures," school officials said.

The firm will also review safety and security policies, procedures, and emergency management planning.

The report is expected to be delivered at the end of February.

School officials said it will include details of the firm's findings and recommendations for security changes if deemed necessary.

The school board also recently hired Kevin Freeman as director of security to replace Kevin Burns, who was named as safety and security supervisor in the Centennial School District in Warminster.

Burns worked for the Neshaminy School District in the same capacity from 2019 to 2022.

Freeman was formerly the director of student affairs at the Carl Sandburg Middle School.
