Langhorne School Evacuated Over Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Herbert Hoover Elementary School was evacuated at about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to school officials.

LANGHORNE, PA — Elementary school students in Langhorne were evacuated Tuesday afternoon after a carbon monoxide detector in the school's kitchen went off.

Neshaminy School District officials say the alarm was sounded at about 1:30 p.m. at Herbert Hoover Elementary School, at 500 Trenton Rd. in Langhorne. All students and staff were safely evacuated, officials said.

District spokesman Chris Stanley said no one was injured in any way. He said the cause of the alarm was a malfunctioning dishwasher heater fan and that the school is expected to be back to normal on Wednesday.

During the evacuation, students remained on the school's playground as the fire marshal and district administrators investigated the cause of the alarm. In a message to family members, the district asked that those picking up children not arrive until regularly scheduled dismissal times.
