Turnpike To Close This Weekend In Lower Bucks Co.

The PA Turnpike Authority said the closure is needed to keep motorists and workers safe while crews remove bridge beams at mile post 351.

LEVITTOWN, PA — The Pennsylvania Turnpike will be shut down overnight into Sunday morning as crews work to remove a bridge beam there.

The closure on I-276 will last six hours, from midnight to 6 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2. The turnpike will be closed in both directions from the Bensalem interchange, Exit 351, to the I-95 interchange, Exit 40, in Bristol Township.

  • Eastbound traffic should exit at Bensalem Interchange, Exit 351, and follow U.S. Route 1 south. Stay right onto North Roosevelt Boulevard to exit for State Route 63 east/Woodhaven Road to exit for I-95 north towards Trenton. Continue travelling on I-95 north towards New York to reenter the PA Turnpike.
  • Westbound traffic should follow I-95 south to Exit 35 for State Route 63 west/Woodhaven Road to U.S. Route 1 north towards Morrisville onto North Roosevelt Boulevard. Reenter the PA Turnpike at the Bensalem Interchange, Exit 351.

Pennsylvania State Police and turnpike workers will be positioned in the area to help drivers. Changeable message signs also will provide information on closures and detours. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions, the commission said.
