112-Year-Old Bridge To Be Replaced In Limerick, Road Closed For 6 Months
The bridge is currently listed in poor condition.
LIMERICK TOWNSHIP, PA — Construction will begin next month to replace the Linfield Road bridge in Limerick Township, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.
Linfield Road will be shut down and detoured between Lewis Road and Limerick Center Road from Monday, May 11 through Friday, Nov. 27.
The 112-year-old, single span concrete bridge carries about 6,600 vehicles per day over a tributary of the Schuylkill River. It's currently listed in poor condition.

The current bridge is one lane, 12 feet long, and 24 feet wide. The new bridge will be widened to about 30.5 feet, including two 11-foot lanes and two shoulders.
The bridge roadway will be resurfaced and milled, as will nearby approaching roadways.

Drivers will be detoured to Lewis Road, Ridge Pike, and Limerick Center Road during the closure.
Delays are expected and drivers should plan for additional travel time.
