Another Inmate Death Reported At Graterford Prison

Breaking: Another inmate has died at Graterford State Prison, authorities said Thursday. It's the third inmate death over the past month.

GRATERFORD STATE PRISON, PA — Another inmate at Graterford State Prison has died, prison officials announced on Thursday. It marks the third inmate death at the prison over the last few weeks.

Isaac DeJesus, 37, was found unresponsive in his cell on Saturday, Feb. 17, at around 1:45 p.m., authorities said.

His cause of death has not been announced.

DeJesus was serving a three to six year sentence for the assault of a juvenile in Philadelphia, according to officials.

The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the incident, as they do with all prison deaths.

Two other recent deaths in the prison are also under investigation. On Feb. 14, Christian Gilchrist, 31, was found dead in his cell. He had been serving a five to 15 year sentence for aggravated assault. And on Jan. 30, it was announced that a 68-year-old inmate was found dead in his Graterford cell. Arthur Phillips had been serving a 10-to-20 year sentence for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person under 16.

A cause of death has not yet been released for either Phillips or Gilchrist.
