Officials Urge Grocery Outlet In Royersford To Reconsider Closure
The grocery store is a vital source of affordable food for locals, especially seniors and those on fixed incomes, officials said.

ROYERSFORD, PA — Officials in the Royersford Limerick area are urging a local grocery store to reconsider its decision to close, citing its importance to local residents.
The Grocery Outlet Bargain Market, located on 301 N. Lewis Road, is a vital source of affordable food, especially to seniors and those on fixed incomes, according to officials.
“I am concerned about the closure of the store and the abrupt notification," said State Rep. Tom Quigley (R-Montgomery). "The landlord has a seven-month notice for non-renewal per the original lease agreement. This short notice gives customers very little time to find any alternatives to their shopping needs."

Quigley, along with Royersford Mayor Jenna Antoniewicz and Limerick Board of Supervisors Chair Elaine DeWan, sent a letter to the Grocery's Outlets executive officers outlining their position.
The store is scheduled to close on Oct. 30. The landlord, Park Town Partnership LLC, was notified of the decision to close only recently, meaning the seven month period referred to by Quigley has not been honored.

Antoniewicz is hopeful the store will use that period to help in the search for a store that will take the place of the Grocery Outlet.
"Grocery Outlet stands for high-quality, wholesome foods for families on a budget," Antoniewicz said. "Our community responded to that business mission, and we respectfully ask Grocery Outlet Inc. to reconsider its decision to close the store and to instead continue to search for possible owners."
There is a Giant supermarket nearby. However, the low prices and walkability of Grocery Outlet are a major attraction for area residents, according to officials.
