Roads Damaged, Remain Shut Down In Montco Following Rainstorm

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Crews are still handling the fallout from Thursday night's rainstorm, which left heavy damage on some area roads.
In Lower Pottsgrove, flooding from Sanatoga Creek came onto N. Sanatoga Road, causing the road to break apart.
As of Friday afternoon, N. Sanatoga Road near Saylor Avenue remained shut down.

In addition, Sunnybrook Road at Crimson Lane and Kepler Road was shut down, as well as N. Adams Street at Centennial Court, due to similar damage.

Nearby in Douglass Township on Grist Mill Road, a pregnant woman and her son were killed when flash flooding from nearby Manatawny Creek swept away their car.

The Schuylkill River flooded up toward 1st Avenue in Royersford, causing officials there to warn residents to move their vehicles to higher ground. Fortunately, the river never made it all the way up to 1st Avenue, limiting the damage, officials said.

Next door in Phoenixville, flooding shut down Bridge Street and parts of Gay Street for a brief time Thursday evening. And on Friday, Pawlings Road Bridge was shut down.
And over in Lower Merion Township, officials urged residents of River Road to evacuate Friday morning as the Schuylkill River crested.
