Route 422 Potholes To Be Repaired This Week As Issue Worsens
The freeze-thaw cycle has wreaked havoc on many roads, Route 422 more than most.

UPPER PROVIDENCE, PA — Potholes will be repaired along a stretch of Route 422 in Upper Providence Township this week, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.
It's part of work underway this week on parts of 35 state highways around southeastern Pennsylvania.
PennDOT says they've received more than 2,100 customer complaints regarding potholes since Jan. 1. In that time frame, they've used 660 tons of asphalt to address issues.

Rapid freezing, thawing, and re-freezing, as the Philadelphia area has experienced this winter, wreaks havoc on pavement.
Highly trafficked roads like Route 422 are even more severely impacted, and ruts can quickly transform from nuisance into real danger.

Separately, a five mile length of Route 422 will be repaved with new road in the coming months, covering Collegeville to the eastern part of Limerick Township, State Rep. Joe Ciresi's office said.
PennDOT plans to open bids on the project in the spring. An exact timeline for when that repaving will happen is not yet known.
Ciresi urged residents to continue to contact his office to identify pothole issues as they arise. You can also report pothole issues with PennDOT here.
