Royersford Proposes Anti-Discrimination Ordinance
Royersford has proposed an anti-discrimination ordinance that would afford protections to the LGBTQ and minority communities.

ROYERSFORD, PA -- Royersford is the latest area municipality to propose an anti-discrimination ordinance protecting minorities, LGBTQ individuals, and the disabled.
"As Royersford continues to grow and to modernize, it's important for all who would do business in or with the borough to know that Royersford is an inclusive community, regardless of gender, disability, the color of your skin, or who you love," borough council Vice President Matt Stehman said.
The proposal was made by Stehman at the recent council meeting on Jan. 31.

While the precise details of the ordinance have not been made public, several nearby municipalities, including Phoenixville and West Chester, have either passed or proposed similar measures.
The ordinances often provide provide housing and employment protections for the LGBTQ and minority communities, in addition to gender neutral bathroom options.

If approved, Royersford would be the 39th municipality in Pennsylvania to adopt an anti-discrimination ordinance.
During the Jan 31. meeting, Royersford's council voted unanimously to present the ordinance to the public for a mandatory 30 day review period. The measure will be presented for a final vote at the meeting on March 28.
